MLI hosts an ADVENTURE ESL PROGRAM ON THE SUNSHINE COAST, EVI was the Coordinator for this Event

I was the coordinator for an adventure ESL program sponsored by MLI. Students from Kobe enjoyed visiting the Sunshine Coast and experiencing a different culture. Here are photos of some of the activities that took place:
The students learned about First Nations, and did some supervised paddling in
large traditional canoes.
.
We explored the rainforest and enjoyed the gurgling brooks and gushing waterfalls.

The Salmon Enhancement Program was an exciting stop. Each student had their own bucket of baby salmon to liberate into Chapman Creek.

Chris explained the life cycle of a salmon, and the group enjoyed wandering along the creek watching active birds and wildlife.

Each student had a small bucket of salmon to release.

Despite moments of rain, the lush green environment was alive with spring wild flowers and curious squirrels.

Two teachers, the agent, myself, and different local experts made the week an interesting experience.

Integration was a focus, and a buddy program enabled each student to learn about each other's culture.

The Japanese students taught the elementary school kids how to do Calligraphy and Origami. This cultural exchange was intriguing and pleasing to the Canadian youngsters.

Lots of photos, laughter and learning took place before the students returned to Japan.
